Ash from Marikari Barfire in Hammonton, NJ

A wildfire broke out in Wharton State Forest, New Jersey, on Sunday night, June 19, according to the state’s Forest Fire Department. According to the New Jersey Forest Fire Department, the fire, called the Malika River Fire, reached 11,000 acres and was 50 percent contained as of Monday afternoon. Authorities said roads and recreation areas in some areas were closed and 18 buildings were threatened. According to the fire department, no injuries were reported around 3:20 pm local time on Monday.
