A fiery half-century from Alyssa Healy gave Sydney Sixers the victory in the opening round of the WBBL season in a shorter rain match against the Melbourne Stars on Thursday night at Bellive Oval in Hobart. ..
The Sixers had some slow hiccups on their way to a 6-wicket victory, leaving 4 balls, so Healy smashed 57 from just 27 balls to the star’s competitive 1-99 at 11. In response, I got 4-100-overside match.
The brutal knock of the Australian wicket keeper surpassed veteran Stars opener Ellis Villani. Stars captain Meg Lanning scored 23 undefeated goals from 17 balls.
Healy is pleased to be back in the run following a modest international series against India.
“Especially with T20 cricket, you just need luck,” Healy said after the performance of the best player.
“I ran out of bowlers at the last T20 International and got a peach in a test match. That’s how cookies crumble.
“I was looking forward to coming to the Big Bash and playing, having fun, and hopefully playing good cricket.”
After the Sixers beat Toss and bowled, Big Bashani won the first run of the WBBL season, turning another veteran, former Scorcher Nicole Bolton’s ball into a single behind the square.
