Inspirational message for family after WA delivery driver’s horror smash

The delivery driver’s family is grateful to those who saved his life after he lost his leg in an accident in Perth.

Ty Brickley was hit by a car while unpacking furniture on Coffey Road in Belmont and fell into an induced coma.

According to eyewitness accounts from neighbors, Mr. Bickley was standing on the ramp of a truck when he was rammed by a car and had his leg and knee amputated.

The 32-year-old is fighting for his life, but his family has opened his eyes for the first time, revealing he is showing signs of improvement.

Talk to 7NewsBrickey’s sister Tina said a colleague’s tourniquet saved his life.

“If it wasn’t for him, we were told, he wouldn’t be here right now. So I want to thank him and everyone else who was on the scene.”

Mr. Brickley has since had three surgeries on his leg and is currently amputated above the knee.

He overcame sepsis but is now battling pneumonia.

“Doctors are still unclear about the severity of his father’s brain injury. He had three fractures in the back of his skull and massive bruising on the front of his brain,” Bickley said.

“They still say 50/50. He may wake up from this and fully recover, but he may never wake up again.”

Police and WorkSafe investigations are still ongoing.

GoFundMe was founded by a close friend of Mr. Brickley’s wife Alanna to help his young family survive.

“Ty was the primary provider for his wife Alannah and their three children Sophie, Matthew and Isaac,” wrote organizer Lee Hutcheson.

“We hope we can help by raising funds to get through this difficult time.”
