Lyon is considered one of the best candidates to coach St. Kirda and Fremantle in 305 AFL games, including four Grand Finals appearances before appearing in the media last year.

Talk about Channel 9’s Footy Classified Wednesday night,Lyon said he wanted to talk to Collingwood, but couldn’t confirm if he was really interested in coaching at the AFL level again.

“If someone calls me from Collingwood, of course, I’ll sit down and talk,” Lyon said.

“But I can’t give you a careless answer here. I held the key (coaching) and tried to get the most out of my new career at the real estate investment firm Wizel Property Group. And (his Channel 9 and Triple M. doing the right thing (by commitment to the media)

“It’s a very big position. Nathan Buckley is a respected person and I saw how he handled it, but he still chewed and spit out. It’s not a simple irony. “Yes, I’m interested.” It’s a big job and we need someone to commit unconditionally. “

Lyon believes that if Hawthorne’s super coach Alastair Clarkson (a 2022 contract, but widely considered available) becomes available, he will be the club’s priority target.

“If Alastair Clarkson is available, there is no competition. Pull out whatever he needs, have a conversation and get a sign,” he said.

Former Saints star Lee Montagna backed Lyon early in the night at Fox Footy AFL 360 As a “very good soccer coach”.

Montagna played under Lyon in St Kilda from 2007 to 2011 and played during the good times of the club, which made it to the three Grand Finals.

I believe he can still give Lyon a lot if he is still interested in coaching and has the right team around him.

“If such a role was (and) interested in Los Lion, I could see him picking out the assistants and young talents he wanted to drive the game plan,” he said. The heavy Australian said ..

“He piloted the ship, became a manager, helped, coached, influenced, attended press conferences, and got all the heat.

“He structured everything and let other young people run a football club. I think he has a great plan, really.”

Lyon last coached AFL’s Fremantle in 2019.
