A stream of tribute to Gabriel Burns allegedly killed in a sleepy Tasmanian town

A young woman allegedly found dead stabbed in a house in a quiet Tasmanian town was identified after a man was charged with her death.

Gabriel Burns’ body was found by police at a property on Alberston’s main street around 3 am on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old has just moved from Queensland to Tasmania and said her distraught brother is aiming to “change her life” on social media.

Burns lived in a small coastal town on the Bass Strait with a female friend and young children allegedly killed by a man who broke into a house.

According to detective Kim Stephen, her friend reported to police that a “prowler” was inside.

When police arrived, they allegedly found Ms. Burns already dead with puncture wounds and “consistent” wounds.

Police then arrested a 35-year-old man at another house about 200 meters away on the same street around 11:00 am on Tuesday.

Around 8 pm Wednesday night, Tasmanian police issued a statement confirming that the man had been charged and would appear in court on Thursday.

“Police yesterday charged a 35-year-old Ulverstone man with murder in connection with the death of a 23-year-old woman in Queensland in Ulverstone,” the statement said.

“The man was detained tomorrow morning to appear in the Magistrates’ Court of Devonport.

“Our thoughts and condolences lie in the deceased’s family and loved ones.”

Burns’ brother Casey McCarthy sent a heartfelt compliment to her sister on Tuesday night, calling her “a beautiful soul who only wanted peace in her life.”

“Gab, we love you, we’re sorry we couldn’t protect you, and I’m very sorry that this happened to you,” he said. Wrote.

“We always love you and miss you forever.

“From the bottom of my heart, I love Gabriel more than you ever know.

“May you feel at ease with my beautiful sister now.”

On Burns’ Facebook page, she wrote: “I love my daughter and dog go. I love boxing and mixed martial arts. I love fitness and modeling motivation.”

The incident shook Ulverstone, a sleepy town with a population of about 14,500, located 20 kilometers west of Devonport.
