A man who slapped French President Emmanuel Macron during a public event was sentenced to 18 months in prison, but with a suspended sentence of 14 months.
BFMTV, a television station, reported that a 28-year-old woman was also banned from public office and possession of weapons by a court in Valence.
Damian T slapped the 43-year-old president on Tuesday when he visited Tain-l’Hermitage in southern Lyon.
The incident captured by the camera caused astonishment all over the country.
According to television stations, the 28-year-old boy did not deny the act in court and said he was an unjust victim.
