A man stabbed to death in a Cairns shopping center

A man died after being stabbed in the Cairns Central Shopping Center in northern Queensland.
According to police, the man, 35, was stabbed by another man around 8 am.
A 39-year-old man has been detained and police are currently working to establish a situation surrounding death.
“The laceration was in my throat and he passed by about 20 minutes after the wound was injured,” detective Kevin Goan told reporters Wednesday.
Insp Goan said police have established whether the two men are known to each other.
“Our immediate information is that it looks like it happened by accident,” he said.
“As you can imagine in a stinging incident, there is a lot of blood everywhere.
“That’s all I can say at this point.”
Insp Goan said the victim is known as a “nice gentleman” in the shopping center.
“The deal he made with the owner in the center was very positive,” he said.
“He quickly got involved with others and was described as a pretty laid-back, easygoing and lovely gentleman.
“More will be known in the next few hours to days.”

According to police, there are many footage of witnesses and CCTV passing through trawl nets.
A forensic officer will comb the scene.
Insp Goan said the investigation was still in its infancy and police were focused on identifying witnesses and revealing what had happened.
Some areas of the shopping center are closed and the crime scene has been declared, so the general public is not allowed to enter.
