Human bodies have been found along the coast of Western Australia, where paramedics and volunteers are looking for kite surfers.
A missing kite surfer, a 70-year-old man, was last seen around noon Wednesday near the mouth of the Murchison River in Kalbarri, about 500 km north of Perth, according to Western Australian police.
Overnight, Western Australian police issued a statement warning that human bodies had been found in the area.
“The body is currently being investigated in court to determine if it is related to the missing man,” WA police said.
“The missing male family is informed about this development.”
Calvary Police, Calvary Volunteer Marine Rescue (KVMR), and SES Volunteers will continue to search the area until forensic examination results are available.
Police said the 70-year-old boy was believed to have faced difficulties offshore before he went missing.
Field resources include Polair 61, fixed-wing aircraft, and two KVMR vessels.
Kite surfers are believed to be local Calvary men in their 70s.
